Robert L. Powley specializes in intellectual property, entertainment, and art law. Rob’s extensive experience includes prosecuting trademarks, obtaining copyright registrations, drafting and negotiating licenses and agreements involving trademarks, copyrights, patents, and domain names. He also protects and litigates the intellectual property rights of his clients in the Federal Courts, before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board, and in alternative dispute resolution proceedings.
Rob’s clientele includes a variety of domestic and international corporations, start-up companies, individuals, and not-for-profit organizations. Most notably, Rob provides counseling for one of the most successful Broadway musicals in history, in addition to a world famous sculptor, and various other successful corporations and entities offering a wide scope of products and services.
Prior to founding Powley & Gibson, P.C. in 2002, Rob practiced trademark, copyright and patent law at Nims, Howes, Collinson, Hansen and Lackert, and Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto in New York City. Rob graduated from Washington and Lee School of Law in 1991.
Rob is licensed to practice law in the United States District Courts for the Southern, Eastern and Western Districts of New York and New York State Court. Rob is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Rob is an active member in the International Trademark Association and a member of the New York Intellectual Property Law Association. |

James M. Gibson

James M. Gibson specializes in intellectual property, including extensive experience in trademark litigation, trademark protection, trademark portfolio management, licensing, unfair trade practices, e-commerce, Internet domain name dispute resolution, due diligence and copyrights.
Jim has represented clients in a wide variety of businesses, including electronics, sports management, pharmaceutical, apparel and accessories, and financial services.
Prior to joining the Law Office of Powley & Gibson , P.C., Jim was a partner at the New York Intellectual Property law firm of Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto. Jim graduated from Cornell University in 1981 and Touro Law School in 1994.
Jim is a member of the American Bar Association, Intellectual Property Law Section, Online Trademark Issues Committee; New York Intellectual Property Law Association, Internet Law Committee; and the International Trademark Association, East Region Coordinator for the Saul Lefkowitz Moot Court Competition Committee.
Jim is licensed to practice law in the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, New York State Court, and the United States Court for the Federal Circuit. |

Margarita Wallach

Margarita Wallach represents clients in the entertainment, apparel, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, alcoholic beverages, finance, biotechnology and real estate industries. Her practice focuses on trademark, trade dress, unfair competition, trade secret and copyright litigation, trademark clearance, prosecution and licensing.
Margarita has represented clients in federal and state court and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board in opposition and cancellation actions. She has protected client’s trademark rights by establishing and maintaining domestic and international trademark portfolios and instituting proceedings under the Uniform Domain Name Dispute Resolution Policy (UDRP). She also has represented a variety of clients in the entertainment industry in the negotiation of theatrical and music talent management agreements, independent film and music distribution agreements, advised clients regarding publicity rights, and drafted Web terms and conditions and privacy statements that comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Prior to joining Powley & Gibson, P.C., Margarita practiced trademark and copyright law at Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker LLP and McCarter & English, LLP. Margarita graduated from Cornell University Law School in 1997 and obtained a bachelor of arts from New York University in 1994. She is admitted to the New York and New Jersey bars and is licensed to practice law in the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York. |

Jason Kasner focuses his practice in trademark, copyright and transactional law. Jason has experience in domestic and international trademark prosecution and portfolio management and proceedings before the United States Trademark Trial and Appeal Board.
Prior to joining Powley & Gibson, P.C., Jason worked as an attorney-consultant in the Trademark Department of Colgate-Palmolive Company in New York City.
Jason graduated from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law in 2005 where he was a member of the Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution, and he received his B.A. in History and Economics from Colgate University in 1999.
Jason is licensed to practice law in the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York as well the state courts of New York and New Jersey. |

David J. Lorenz

David J. Lorenz specializes in intellectual property law with extensive experience in patent prosecution, patent validity and infringement studies and complex patent litigation in the pharmaceutical and chemical industries. David also works in the areas of trademark and copyright law.
Prior to joining Powley & Gibson, P.C., David practiced patent law with Fitzpatrick, Cella, Harper & Scinto in New York and Budd Larner, P.C., in Short Hills, New Jersey.
David graduated from Columbia Law School in 1999 and received his Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of Florida in 1994. Prior to attending law school, David was a process development engineer with the Procter & Gamble Co. and is an inventor of United States Patent No. 5,958,185.
David is licensed to practice law in the United States District Courts for the Southern District of New York, the Eastern District of New York, the District of New Jersey, and in New York and New Jersey State Courts. David is also registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. |

Michelle Riley focuses her practice in trademark, copyright and entertainment law. Michelle has handled trademark and copyright matters concerning the fashion, beauty, and pharmaceutical industries.
Prior to joining Powley & Gibson, P.C., Michelle was a legal assistant at Baker Botts, LLP and Fross Zelnick Lehrman & Zissu, P.C., where she practiced trademark prosecution. Michelle was also a legal intern at Burberry USA and at the World Intellectual Property Organization.
Michelle is a member of the International Trademark Association, and the New York Bar Association.
Michelle received her J.D. in 2008 from Brooklyn Law School, and graduated from New York University with honors in 2002. Michelle’s admission to practice law in the State of New York is pending. |

Joseph J. Bozzuti

Joseph J. Bozzuti specializes in intellectual property, with an emphasis on trademark and copyright law. He is an experienced litigator in both state and federal courts.
Prior to joining Powley & Gibson, P.C., Joe served as a law clerk to the Honorable Richard K. Eaton of the United States Court of International Trade, where he joined Judge Eaton for multiple designation sittings on the United States Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit. Joe also served as an associate at London Fischer LLP.
Joe received his J.D.,cum laude, in 2004 from St. John's University School of Law, where he served as the Executive Notes and Comments Editor of St. John's Law Review. Joe graduated with a B.S. in Biology from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 2001.
Joe is licensed to practice law in the state courts of New York, the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, and the United States Court of International Trade. He is a member of the International Trademark Association, The Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the Federal Bar Council, and the New York Intellectual Property Law Association. |

Prior to joining Powley & Gibson, P.C., David was a paralegal at Dreier L.L.P. and Gursky & Partners, L.L.P. David was also a compliance intern at OppenheimerFunds, Inc.
David received his J.D. in 2009 from Rutgers School of Law – Newark, and received his B.S. in Criminal Justice from Rutgers University in 1999. David sat for the New York and New Jersey Bar exams in July 2009, and his results are pending.
